I would say that my first real introduction to politics was when I asked my father what were Democrats and Republicans. His answer was simple: Democrats were working people, and Republicans were the rich people.
I don’t think you could get a better introduction to the way politics is really about a class struggle. Going back to the origin of European Politics, this has always been the case.
I’m a lifelong Pacific Northwesterner/Cascadian/Oregonian. I’ve lived a piece of my life in Seattle, but most of my life has been somewhere in Clatsop County.
